Alberta Client Directed Homecare Program

Do you or a family member need homecare and extra support at home?

Did you know that Alberta Health Services (AHS) has made homecare more accessible to Albertan residents through the Client Directed Home Care Program which is billed directly through Alberta Blue Cross?

AHS offers this option to assist individuals in need of personal care, respite, and homemaking.

STAT Solution Services (Home Health & Support) is an approved Service Provider for the Alberta Health Services Client Directed Home Care Program which was launched in January 2023.

How to Access Care Service:

Getting Started is as easy as ABC:

If you are interested in receiving an assessment:

A.    Call 811 to Request an Assessment (AHS Community Home Care Intake). You will be guided     through the process and provided with necessary information to connect with an AHS Case Manager. The AHS Case Manager will determine your homecare needs and approve your request for service.

B.    Visit Home & Community Care | Alberta Health Services to learn more about AHS home care programs.

C.     Once approved for the Client Direct Homecare, contact STAT Solutions Home Care (780 399 9858 or homehealth@statsolutionservices.com) and we will take care of the rest.

We’ll take care of all the administrative responsibilities so you can focus on receiving the best care that our qualified compassionate caregivers provide. We will directly bill Alberta Blue Cross.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How do I get started with the CDHCI program?

If you already have home care or Self-Managed Care, contact your AHS Case Manager to discuss your eligibility for the CDHCI program. You can also call us and we will take you through the process.

You can also Self-refer by contacting the AHS Community Home Care Intake (811). You will be assigned an AHS Case Manager who will arrange a home assessment to determine your needs and required hours. Once approved, the AHS Case Manager will provide you with a Care Plan showing the designated hours and breakdown of your care support for each month.

Is Client Directed Home Care only for seniors?

No, anyone living in Alberta with a valid healthcare card can receive Home Care services, if their needs can be safely met in their place of residence, and they meet the requirements as assessed by an Alberta Health Services case manager.

How does the Billing work under the Client Directed Home Care Program?

  • We are authorized to bill Alberta      Blue Cross directly on your behalf through the program for the billable amount      ($33.61 (Updated on October 1, 2024)).
  • You are responsible for paying for      any difference between the AHS-funded hourly rate and the Home      Care Provider hourly rate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at  if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Anyone who feels that their time would be better spent on the things they enjoy instead of struggling through tasks they find difficult. This could be a senior who is tired of doing the vacuuming, someone who needs some assistance getting dressed in the morning so they can go out and enjoy their day, or someone caring for a loved one that needs a few hours off to do something for themselves. Home care services are flexible to meet the very personal needs of each individual.

Although each option has its pros and cons, home care is well suited for people who want complete flexibility in the services they choose. Home care services are available wherever you are, so this allows you to stay where you are most comfortable. Home care can be financially sensible for seniors who own their homes. In-home support allows you to decide how much care you need, and when you need it, leaving you in control. Home care can also be provided in a retirement home or long term care facility if additional one-on-one care is required.

The initial in-home assessment allows you to tell us what you need. You then have the opportunity to ask for input from our experienced home care professionals, who are happy to guide you to find the best solutions for your situation.

Our screening process is very thorough to ensure all of our caregivers are a good match with our company. We perform a vulnerable sector criminal record check, reference checks, and we require specific certifications based on the position.

  Yes, absolutely.

All employees are covered by workplace insurance, in case of an accident or injury while working in a client’s home. You don’t have to worry about covering any out of work expenses.

In Alberta, most clients are eligible for the Client-Directed Home Care Program with direct invoicing through Alberta Blue Cross.

In British Columbia, some clients may be eligible for coverage through private insurance or Veteran’s Affairs. Contact us to determine your eligibility.

We often hear about the “sticker shock” of home care services and understand that care can be expensive for families. We work hard to find sustainable solutions for families.

No. Our services begin where the government-funded home care program ends, and we work in collaboration with public home care services.  In some cases, we deliver home care services on behalf of public funded care and institutions.

Most of our clients receive care in their own homes; however, we can provide additional care to clients in Long Term Care or Assisted living facilities, hospitals, and Adult Day Care programs.
